      Hi Dylan,

You can visit the snow in Japan on the main sland of Honshu (where Tokyo is), i fyou head north to one of the resorts like Nagano where the winter Olympics was held.

A lot of tourists head to the next island north of Honshu which is Hokkaido. A popular ski resort inHokkaido is Niseko. Although it has become somewhat over-developed and is more geared towards those wanting to party with other foreigners. Having said that, the powder in Niseko rivals that of North America and Europe.

We spent last season at Furano which i about 3 hours bus rde from New Chitose airport – the main airport near Sapporo (the capital of Hokkaido). From Rurano, you can do 1 hour bus trips for about 450 including a daily lift pass to resorts like Kamui and Tomamu as well as Asahidake. Furano itself is a great destination with good snow and plenty to keep you occupied. There are festivas, cultural events, a few good bars, a winery, cheese factory, brewery, loads of awesome restaurants inthe village and in town. Check out the Furano website – just google ‘Furano’.

We’ll be in Furano again for most of February 2011. Hope to see you on the slopes!
