Snowboard In Japan

We headed down to Trigger brothers on Saturday to pick up the last of our equipment.

Iao picked up his Burton Supermodel board, a very nice inclusion to the gear list for 2010.

I invested in a new helmet.  I haven’t worn helmets before while snowboarding, but I’m looking to try a few more jumps and rails this season and welcome the extra security of knowing my head is protected from any heavy falls.  There’s a great article about helmets for snow sports here.

I also picked up a pair of Shaun White signature series Oakleys.  They have an amber lens which should increase visibility in the fog and reduce glare.  I tried on several different brands and styles, and these were the snuggest fit while not restricting airflow through the nose.

Iao has also invested in a suction mount for the helmet cam, so look out for some wicked footage from the board level perspective as Iao rips up the Furano pow this season.
